Self-confidence equals better performance.
Better performance in what?
Here I am focusing only on exams.
Yes, if the parents boost self-confidence of their children, they perform better in exams.
It is even surprising to know that a confident student will perform much better in exams than the one lacking it.
Do you know the reason why this happens?
You will be surprised to know.
It is because when a child loses self-confidence, they may lose motivation in learning.
This would prevent them from giving their hundred percent in areas of study in which they are weak.
Also, they will not be able to concentrate on the subjects in which they are strong.
So the question arises how should we boost self-confidence in our children during exams?
There could be so many ways by which you can boost self-confidence in children.
I have mentioned a few essential practices that can be done for boosting self-confidence in Children.
1.Appreciate: Appreciate their efforts by talking positively about the efforts they are putting.
Appreciation will motivate them to make continuous improvement.
2.Do not compare: Don’t compare them with any other student be it their classmate or your friend’s child.
This will only frustrate them, leading to questioning their capabilities which would affect their confidence.
3.Avoid talking about expectations. Avoid talking about expectations.
This doesn’t mean you don’t let them know your expectations from them but you should not force it upon your child.
It only increases their burden.
4. Exams: The most important thing is letting your child know that exams are just one part of their life and not life itself.
Though exams are essential but they do not wholly define them.
5. Physical Fitness: Yes, you heard it right and it is essential to remember this. As parents, it is your responsibility to ensure your child has a balance between studies and play.
Spending too much time with books can affect your child’s mental and physical health.
Same with playing too much.
Then it becomes wasting time unless a child wants to make a career in it and affects physical health.
A balance between both will improve the concentration of your child in studies and will keep him physically active as well.
6. Inspire them to be Happy: Do you know happier students score better?
A happy student is a more productive one.
And happiness is the result of the environment in which they live.
Thus, this makes it essential that as a parent, you ensure that you provide a happy and excellent environment to your child.
7. Time Management: Teach children the skill of time management.
Make them aware of practising a schedule and follow the time table for that schedule.
This helps in building self-confidence.
